Speaking in sacrement meeting....

Well today I spoke in sacrament meeting, and I think I did alright. People complimented me on it but why I was so worried about it was that I wrote the talk this morning. :) We have 12:30 meeting and I got up at 9:45 in the morning. I did set my clock for for 8:00 but in my subconsciousness, I had turned it off. hehehe oops :) I DO not remembering turning it off though. The reason being why I didn't write it yesterday, was because I went to the Temple with my Ward, and we got out later then we thought we would. Then my family and I went to Wal-mart, and we didn't home till really late.
Any way I got up and wrote it on my topic of Temples.

Here is my talk so hope you enjoy :)

Temple work can be used for two purposes One is doing ordinances for the dead, and then ordinances for the living.

Ordinances for the living: True to the Faith says the principal purposes for temples are to provide the ordinances necessary for our exaltation in the celestial kingdom. When you are eighteen or getting married, you get something called endowments. Endowments means gift. Endowments are very important.

Another temple ordinance is celestial marriage. With this a husband and wife can be sealed for all time and eternity. If husband and wife keep their covenants, the sealing they performed in the temple will continue forever, and they may be able to live in the highest degree of glory. D&C 131: 1-4

(Read Preach my Gospel: Eternal Marriage)

Children that are born to parents that have been sealed together, they are born under the covenant. Even thought the children might not have been born under the covenant, they can still be sealed to their families, as my own mom was. (tell about mom's adoption and sealing)

Temples are sacred; always remember the ordinances you have made, and if you have not made covenants yet prepare your selves to enter into the temple and receive those sacred covenants. Also parents, teach your children that they might be ready when the times come to enter into the temple. I am thankful that my parents taught me about the temple, and to respect it and what happens there.

Now I am going to talk about Ordinances for the Dead

Many people have died in the world with out being able to be sealed, baptized or confirmed, or without being able to have their endowments taken out. We as members of the church are able to do these things for them. We need to go to the temple often so that we can do it for them.

I found a scripture to go along with this topic. D&C 138: 58

Yesterday we were able as a youth, go and do baptisms for the dead. The experience for me was one that I am happy God gave to me. After I was done with the names that I was given, the bishop grabbed my arm and asked me if I wanted to do more names. I said yes of course and I did the last ones they had for the group, that had been mixed up or something else.

God let me do those extra names so that his children who were waiting patiently to be baptized were able to have that ordinance done for them. I am very thankful that he let me do it too. I sat there and thought of the happiness all those people that were baptized and confirmed yesterday not only here but all over, were able to have. They are sons and daughters of God too, and they have the right to be able to be with Him forever just as us, the living, have also.

Temple work is very important, not only for our salvation but for others also.

God has given us these temples, and it is our job to do the work that needs to be done. We need to return to the temple often as we are permitted.

way to go! That's an awesome talk. I wish I could have been there to see and hear it in person. And unfortunately we won't be making it to Utah for Thanksgiving. Nick has to stick around school to study for his finals in the lab. But it's okay, because his sister lives here too, and his other sister is coming up from southern California to be with us. Can't wait to see you guys at Christmas time though!
