My own little Christmas tree

I have a Christmas tree that I got in 6th grade and I have used it ever sense then for decoration for my room.

This year I decided to put the presents that I got from my friends underneath it. :) After I had set everything by the tree up, I took the stocking that I had gotten from my Secret Santa in Seminary and put it up on my wall to the side of the tree. As I stood back to admire it, I decided that I would make a nice blog post. So here I am posting about it

Anyway here is one of the pictures that I took of the tree, if you look to the side of it you can see the red stocking! hehehe

(wow really dark pic... didn't mean for it to be that dark... Sorry :)

Well a lot has heppened...

Well how have you all been sense my last post? :) I have been doing alright. I had a birthday not to long ago. On the 10th. I had a very good time. My friends sang to me on the bus the whole way to school, I got a huge pink gift bag with presents inside, and I had to carry it all day, it was really big and hard/annoying to carry it all day but I really didn't mind. It was just that having it by my side all day broad casted that is was my birthday... unwanted attention. They also baked me a chocolate cake with pink frosting that we ate during lunch... it was mmm mmm mmm good!

Well enough with that :)

Christmas is coming up and I can't wait for it! Christmas has always been a favorite holiday for me, as well as millions of others. But that reason that I like Christmas, is that I get to give with out an excuse for it! In Seminary we picked out a name of someone in our class, that we had to give a gift, or many gifts to. I got a boy that I don't really talk to, because we are total opposites. I think that having this name has been good for me. I have prayed a lot more, about what to give him and others, I have gotten to know him better, by just listening in on his conversations... (yeah yea yeah I know I am being an eavesdropper, but how else do I get an idea of what he likes?:)

Life has been good to me. We have a Christmas band concert, and I am playing not only my violin for the classic Christmas songs, but I am also playing the bass guitar for the jazz song my class is playing. :) It is great fun!!!

I will be better at keeping you posted, but I have been very busy lately :)Thanks for coming back though!

Wintersong and Song for a Winter's Night

Wintersong

Beautiful song, beautiful musician, wonderful piano.

Well Winter is coming and I am excited not only for the feeling of snow beneath my feet, but the special feeling the Christmas brings. And of course my birthday :) hehehe just kidding

I have decided to share with you two winter songs I love.

Song for a Winter's Night (it says that it is 5 minutes long it isn't. Sorry it is the only video that I could find with Sarah McLachlan singing it)

Our Twilight Excursion

5...4...3...2...1 DING DING DING!!!!!!! "RUN, RUN, RUN!!! FASTER!!!!!! HURRY RUN!!!!!!!!"
hehehe yep that is what we were like yesterday during 8th period and running to my friend's car.

My friend's mom, four of my friends and I went to the movie 3 hours early. We had to go that early, because our theater is in a different county, and other people get there really early. We didn't mind we sat there on a blanket and talked. We then got pizza and doughnut holes. Every half hour we yelled out what time it was so that people knew how long they had left :) My legs were tired from sitting for a long time, so I got up and walked around. I decide to see how long the line was, so I got up and walked out in the parking lot and noticed the line had gone way past all of the stores that were by the theater.

When we finally got into the movie we were so excited and hyper. We waited and waited for the theater to fill up, so that the movie could start. When it did, there was a ton of people shushing other people. When the movie title came on people cheered.

I really liked the movie, but the book will always be better in my point of view. I plan on going again with my mommy. :) My friends all liked, and we also talked about what we didn't like about it after we watched it. Only one of my friends did not like it, she said that it was too corny, but then again she thinks a lot of things are corny.

To those of you that haven't seen it, I recommend it and to those who have seen it, what did you think about it? What were your likes and dislikes?

Speaking in sacrement meeting....

Well today I spoke in sacrament meeting, and I think I did alright. People complimented me on it but why I was so worried about it was that I wrote the talk this morning. :) We have 12:30 meeting and I got up at 9:45 in the morning. I did set my clock for for 8:00 but in my subconsciousness, I had turned it off. hehehe oops :) I DO not remembering turning it off though. The reason being why I didn't write it yesterday, was because I went to the Temple with my Ward, and we got out later then we thought we would. Then my family and I went to Wal-mart, and we didn't home till really late.
Any way I got up and wrote it on my topic of Temples.

Here is my talk so hope you enjoy :)

Temple work can be used for two purposes One is doing ordinances for the dead, and then ordinances for the living.

Ordinances for the living: True to the Faith says the principal purposes for temples are to provide the ordinances necessary for our exaltation in the celestial kingdom. When you are eighteen or getting married, you get something called endowments. Endowments means gift. Endowments are very important.

Another temple ordinance is celestial marriage. With this a husband and wife can be sealed for all time and eternity. If husband and wife keep their covenants, the sealing they performed in the temple will continue forever, and they may be able to live in the highest degree of glory. D&C 131: 1-4

(Read Preach my Gospel: Eternal Marriage)

Children that are born to parents that have been sealed together, they are born under the covenant. Even thought the children might not have been born under the covenant, they can still be sealed to their families, as my own mom was. (tell about mom's adoption and sealing)

Temples are sacred; always remember the ordinances you have made, and if you have not made covenants yet prepare your selves to enter into the temple and receive those sacred covenants. Also parents, teach your children that they might be ready when the times come to enter into the temple. I am thankful that my parents taught me about the temple, and to respect it and what happens there.

Now I am going to talk about Ordinances for the Dead

Many people have died in the world with out being able to be sealed, baptized or confirmed, or without being able to have their endowments taken out. We as members of the church are able to do these things for them. We need to go to the temple often so that we can do it for them.

I found a scripture to go along with this topic. D&C 138: 58

Yesterday we were able as a youth, go and do baptisms for the dead. The experience for me was one that I am happy God gave to me. After I was done with the names that I was given, the bishop grabbed my arm and asked me if I wanted to do more names. I said yes of course and I did the last ones they had for the group, that had been mixed up or something else.

God let me do those extra names so that his children who were waiting patiently to be baptized were able to have that ordinance done for them. I am very thankful that he let me do it too. I sat there and thought of the happiness all those people that were baptized and confirmed yesterday not only here but all over, were able to have. They are sons and daughters of God too, and they have the right to be able to be with Him forever just as us, the living, have also.

Temple work is very important, not only for our salvation but for others also.

God has given us these temples, and it is our job to do the work that needs to be done. We need to return to the temple often as we are permitted.

The fun of Halloween

Wow yesterday was SO fun :) My friend and I went trick-or-treating, then we had a late over with other friends. We started trick-or-treating at about 5:23 and then we didn't get back till 8:00. We did a lot of the small town we live in.
After we got back we went into the house got some leftovers, because we were hungry, then went down stairs to watch movies. Our other friends came over a little bit after the first movie (Lady in White) had started. After we were done with that movie we started another one, Rear Window. I kept falling asleep because it takes a little longer to get to the point, but when it did I was wide wake cuddling with my friends on the edge of my seat in suspense. We looked really funny all crammed on to the couch together.
We didn't get done with our movie night till 1:00 in the morning hehehe then I woke up early to babysit my brothers while my mom went to our ward's Super Saturday, but I had fun so that is all the counts right? Well I do think I ate too much candy so I am a little sick so hence the picture of the puking pumpkin :)
And in fact I am going to Brittany's house go have another late over (till 10:00 this time :) with the same people that were at Rachel's house last night :)

Hope you all had a good Halloween! And don't eat to much candy, you will get sick! :D teehee

Halloween

Yep Halloween is coming up soon and my friend and I are excited! :) We are going to be goth/punk fairies. Don't ask us how we came up with the idea, we just did. Maybe it is because I have some WICKED fairy wings, maybe not. Our school might have a dance, but I don't think so. Tomorrow we are doing battle of the classes, and having some Halloween fun. Plus a bonus! We have a half day!!!! :) So cool!

Well I hope that your Halloweens are fun and spooky :) And that you guys are all safe as you go Trick-or-Treating! If some of you do go :) Some of you guys might just hand out the candy, and we Trick-or-Treaters love you for that!

Life goes on

Today was the funeral of my beloved cousin McKensie. The service was beautiful, and the talks that we shared were powerful. Especially my uncle's. He has got the strongest testimony about this trial they are going through. He kept saying how he is not mad at God for taking his little princess. He understands. My aunt also kept saying that.

Any way as the title of this post says, life does go on even if you feel empty inside and you still don't totally grasp what has happened. You may want life to stop so that you can morn and be sad, but it still goes on and God is there to comfort you. I think that I have cried more today then any time in my life. I will miss her but I know that God wanted her home and that it was her time to go.

Any way if this post sound scattered, it is because I am so emotionally drained and tired :)

May God guide this little angel

My little cousin McKensie died sometime around five this morning. She, as you may have read on my mom's blog, had AML(chemotherapy resistant leukemia). She had brain tumors that caused her daily pain. She is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father resting peacefully and without pain.

I was woken up by my mom this morning, and she told me the news of her death. I cried and cried, and all I could think about was how Tiffany and Brandon are feeling about this.

I am thankful for my Seminary class for all the prayers that they have given in her behalf, and we are all thankful for others that have prayed for her.

I have people that love me!

hehehehe Yeah I know that I have people that love me, but I see it more and more all the time. I came home from school and my mom turned to me and said that Paulette liked my blog I told my mom to tell her thank you. I then walked to my room to go put my stuff away. My mom called me back into the office and said that she wasn't done telling me what else Paulette had to say. My mom then told me that Paulette liked the fairy that was on my blog. I looked at her quizzically and asked What fairy?

I then looked all over my blog, for a fairy. I knew that I had not put one on there, and I looked on the side bar and at the flowers. There was no fairy that I could see. My mom then told me to open a different internet browser, so I did. When My blog loaded I looked and low and behold that was a cute little PINK fairy. I smiled and told my mom to tell her thank you. Now I will just sit there and watch it fly on the screen. She had made me a little pink fairy and with the help of her brother they put it for me! I love my little fairy!
Thank you big sis and Dave!!!! They are both wonderful! Thanks so much! :)

God has blessed me with firends

Today in school I was in math class and I was just sitting there when all of the sudden, my friend Mia turns around and puts my calculator cover into my cup. (We can buy cups for 5 cents and we can then get drinks in class without having to leave.) But in doing so she put a huge slice into the side of it. I looked up at her and did my funny raise one eyebrow thing at her. She blushed, looked at the cup and said sorry. She then said that I should fill it up to see if it would still hold water. I looked at the slice and saw that it was long, more then it was wide so I did. It held the water just fine so I was pleased and returned back to my seat.

However, when I was walking back to my desk, it started spilling out of the crack and going all over the place. I looked up at Mia in shock and she just laughed. I walked by her and nodded my head and said sarcastically, "Yeah... it will still hold water." She tried to grab the cup from my hands to get a drink but I pulled it back.

As I was gulping it down, so that the front of my shirt would not get any more wet for the cascade of water running down that side of it, she decided to push that cup up and make me choke on the water. I pulled the cup away from my face a coughed getting Mia wet in the process. She squeaked and that made the teacher look up at the both of us and say, "Any one caught throwing water in my class, all that are involved will get U's." I went pale white and sat back down too scared to defend us. I looked at Mia and almost cried! I could not get a U!!!!!! Number one because I have NEVER had a U, and secondly I would be kicked off Honor Society. I didn't want that! Mia just sighed looked at me and said that it was more of a warning then anything. She said that at least we were not mad at each other and that that was all that counted.

That got me thinking... I learned a great lesson today. I learned that good friends are always going to be with you and stand through the thick and thin in life :) They are going to stand by your side in trouble and say, Man we screwed up, but gosh we had fun :) I am thankful that God gave me friends :) Even though they ruin my cup and get me and them all wet, I still love them

Tandem Bikes...

Well today my brother and I were taking a bike ride around our town. We stopped by my friend house, because I wanted to talk to her. I asked if she would join us on our bike ride so she did. But instead of taking a different bike, she told me I was going to ride the tandem with her... k all that know me personally know that I am a coconut (brown on the outside, blond on the inside), and that I am a klutz. So I was hesitant to get on with her because she is a blond too. I mean she is blond truly, and at heart. :) She dragged me on to it, and before we even got on, we were having troubles... We rode down to the gas station to pump up the tires, then we rode around her neighbor hood. The people in their cars that we passed were laughing at us SOOOOO hard. I ended up holding my legs up so that she was the only one peddling. I am sure we were a sight for sore eyes. My brother who was riding along side of us was laughing really hard too :) Well that was my excitement for today :) I wonder what is next to ride... a unicycle? Maybe (she has one of those too hehehe)

9-11

Today at school, before we went to our 1st period, we went outside and listened to our Principal talk about 9-11. He talked about he sacrifices that those people made. He talked about people in the past that have given there lives to save others. Then two of our teachers raised the flag then took it back down to half staff. We watched in silence then we said the Pledge of Allegiance. My friend Played taps before we went inside. It was a very cool thing to do.

When I went to Seminary, my teacher talked about 9-11 also. He told us that he thought that after 9-11 it seemed our country came together more closely. I agree with him fully. He told us that one of the Prophets said that the most important word in the dictionary, is remember. We should never forget. He was on his mission in Taiwan at the time and people there watched the tragic thing too.

Any way I felt that I should write about this experience. I hope that we all have a heart full of love for those who are remembering loved ones, and I hope we all have a prayer in our hearts too.

You decide

Ok, my music player has only room for ONE more song, before it reaches 100 songs. I can't decide what song to put on it. I have thought about it and thought about it, and can not come to a conclusion. So I have decided to ask you guys who read my blog.

What song would you want me to put on my playlist? Please post in the comments section and I will either pull a name and song out of a hat or I will pick what ever song I like best :)

Thanks for your input!!!!!

My Bangs!

Well last night my wonderful hairdresser of a mom cut my hair. I got about 3 inches off and then I decided to do something crazy! I cut my bangs in a layered swept to the side look. I have had my bangs grown out for almost 3 years now, so today at school the bangs in my eye were bugging me!!!!! It is going to take sometime getting used to them but I love them any way!!!!

(the bangs in the picture are what mine look like)

Well... I'm still alive :)

School has been alright. I am into the 2nd week, and doing just fine. I enjoy being the big bad kids in school now :) the little ones are afraid of us. hehehehe I think so far that seminary is the best class. My teacher is up-beat and energetic. He makes learning about the gospel fun :) He is really cool to be around. I also have two really WEIRD teachers they are REALLY hyper and loud and all over the place I brace myself every time I go into their classes. It is really weird to go from Seminary to go to my L.A. class because one is quiet and spiritual the other class has a crazy teacher that is SOOOOO hyper :)

I am not involved in any sports so far, but come May I am going to try out for softball. I would do other sports but I missed volleyball (dang it!!!) and I can't play basketball, so that leaves wrestling... NOPE!!! We might be able to put a soccer team together so I might do that.

School is still kind of taking off so we haven't done anything big. Which I am just fine with. :)

Any way I am sure there are more updates to come soon :)

Ok I know it is a little late to put this up but oh well :)

Friday, August 15, 2008

Ok I know I just posted but....

I went on the Skycoaster again. This time we had three people go though. I still pulled the rip cord, Weston went again (he did it with me the first time) then my friend Brinne did it with us. We had the funnest time!!!!!!!! While we were having fun, Brinne and I decided to go on the Catapult. We did and it was really fun, but I still think the Skycoaster was better. :) The Harness is really tight. You buckle your self in with a seatbelt then they pull the blue harness down and then they pull another strap (you can see them in the picture the black line coming out from he catapult) and buckle you into the harness. They shoot you off when you are not expecting git and it is fun :) When we got off the catapult the guy asked us if we wanted to watch our movie, (they have a video recorder in the catapult). We watched the movie and laughed the whole time. I realized that I have a HUGE mouth when I scream. he. . .he. . .he It was really big... it looked really bad too :)

Oh well I had fun and that is what counts.

Am I ready? I dont't think so...

School starts on the 19th and I am not ready for it to begin again. I want summer to last at least one more week :P But I know that it is not possible. It just means that sense we are starting earlier, we will get out for summer earlier again.

I will post after my first day of school and tell you how it was.

Pretty close I think :)

Strong and spirited. You're no one's girly girl; actually you are very determined person with a strong sense of self. Never let go of that! The only thing that equals your sense of self is your family, but the traditions of society can always be bent to protect something or someone you love.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

My mom has told me that I am a tom boy :) She does say that I am a girly girl too though :) Any way this has got to be my favorite Disney movie out of all of them :)

The Castle Valley Pageant

This Pageant is about the pioneers that came form San Pete county to settle Emery County. It is really awesome! I play an Indian the first four nights then I will be a pioneer for the last four. The pageant really opened my eyes about the county. It looks barren and desolate, but it is really a pretty place :)

Any one who reads this, and has time or is able, should come! We have people from all over the state coming to see it. Last night we had a lot of people there, but Fridays and Saturdays always have the most people.
There are signs for the pageant all over. Just before you go into the Spanish Fork Canyon there is a big sign talking about it. When you get into Emery County there are big orange signs all over so if you get lost just look for those :)

Lagoon's Skycoaster

Wow!!!!!! I had the time of my life yesterday!!!! I went to Lagoon with my Marching band after the Days of '47 parade. The parade was awesome even if we were 104 in line :) We were 105 last year. It did kick my butt though. I was very glad for the water at the end of the parade. hehehe Any way I had an awesome time! My friends and I went on the Wicked, and it was worth the line... well kind of ;)

It was getting closer to 8:30 (that was the time we had to meet back at the gate) and I was standing in line for the Samurai, and a couple of kids from our marching band were talking about how fun the Skycoaster was. I started thinking that the Skycoaster would be fun for me to go on too.

I talked to both of my friends that I was with, and they both refused one saying heck no and the other saying the she was afraid of heights. I was bummed, because I really wanted go. I looked up farther in line and saw my other friend. I called up to him and asked if he wanted to go with me, he slowly accepted and then got on the Samurai. He waited for me to get off the ride then we walked over to the Skycoaster entrance. We paid, got our tickets, then got dressed in the harness thingy. They asked which one us us was going to pull the rip cord. I looked at my friend and he shook his head. He didn't want to do it. While we waited for our turn and I was thinking to myself that I had officially passed the boundaries of being kind of insane to being extremely insane.

The lady called us up to our numbers at the gate. We were told to walk towards the platform thing and stand on it while the other 3 people (one of which was only 5 years old. My friend kept saying she was awesome I agreed) got unhooked. The workers asked us to trade places with the other people and stand so that we could be hooked up to the cable. They told us to lock our arms then garb our own wrist. What they didn't tell us was that they were going to drop the platform out from under us. We felt like we were going to fall flat on our faces.

They rechecked everything then they told us some instructions. I could not understand what she said so she told me that she was going to say 'fliers 3,2,1 FLY', then I was going to have to pull the rip cord. She said not to worry that there would be a speaker up at the top to listen to. The other guy said that when we passed the yellow box the first time, we could spread our arms and fly, after that they sent us up 143 feet into the air. The weird thing was that I felt secure up there in the air in the harness..... yes I know I am insane. teehee :)

When we were almost to the top I said to my friend that we were almost to the top he told me not to remind him. We were both excited and scared at the same time. We sat there for a second then we heard the lady's voice over the speakers saying 'Ok Fliers 3,2,1 FLY!' I kind of freaked out that moment, and could not grab the rip cord. I reached back for the rip cord again then I screamed and he yelled the whole way down. We passed the yellow box and he would not let go of my arm I yelled at him and told him to let go. He did; I think he was in shock and that is why he didn't let go, but I am glad he went with me I would have not gone alone I would have been to chicken.

When we were done they told us to grab the loop we both yelled 'What loop?' It was a tiny loop and sense my arms are to short my friend had to grab it. :) Thanks Weston :) We made it back to the platform and made our way back to the waiting area. When we were getting our harnesses off the guy asked me if I had had fun. I told him it was the most thrill I had had in my entire life he chuckled then asked me what ride we were going on next. I told him we were going to go on Wicked again. We did and it was just as fun as the first time. At least I thought it was.

On the way home the bus had tire problems so instead of getting home at 1:00 am I got home and 4:00 am. :P I slept in till 1:30 in the afternoon, and I am still tired.

Hello

Well I just got back form a Super Activity that I went on with my ward. I was SOOOOOOO fun :) The girls I was with stayed up all night... well I have to say I did too. It was fun.
I will tell you what we did:
We woke up at 4:30 in the morning and met at our church so that we could be to Welfare Square on time. When we got to Welfare Square we did service (I worked on the grounds with my friends), then we went on a tour. We learned that the wheat building that you pass by on the freeway is the only original building from the 1930s and that it only took 15 days to build. WOW if you ask me. Then we ate lunch and took off the the Humanitarian Aid building. There we spent three hours packing little kits with towels and mask. It was fun :) We talked while working and joked with our group. We went on a tour there it was fun too.

When we got to our hotel room we decided to go to the Mall that was across the freeway so that we could get something we needed for the prank we did later that night. We left with out telling our leader (on accident). While we were walking over the bridge that went over the free way we looked over and low and behold there was our bishop his truck with his wife and kids.... oops. We walked the rest of the way there got what we needed and walked back. When we got to our room our leader came out of her room and yelled at us down the hall,
"GIRLS WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?" we ran into our room and slammed the door, but the lock was in the way and it came flying back open hehehe. She came in and was yelling at us, but she had a hard time keeping a straight face. She started smiling and it turns out the bishop had told her. After we were at the hotel for a little bit we went to a Bees game. it was good (besides the drunk people surrounding all sides off us :P) They played the Sacramento River Cats. They were losing and it was horrible, but then in the last inning the Bees hit a home run and we won!!!! It was cool.
After we got back from the game we talked to the bishop about the prank and he said yes. When the boys were swimming we put silly string and toilet paper all over the room , plus we ripped up napkins and put them all over the place. (yes I know we are mean, but the funny thing was that a girl from our group, her mom gave her the idea for the prank :) While we were doing that we asked a girl to call the service desk to have awake up call go to their room for 3 in the morning. Then we went swimming after we were done. While we were swimming the boys forced their way into the room and dumped all of our things out on our beds, and hid our shoes behind the bed table.

When it was three we decided to go to their room and sit outside the door with pillows and listen to the wake up call. We all sat there for 4 minutes and the wake up call didn't work. So one of the girls put her cell phone in the room on high and closed the door. It still didn't wake them up. So when we went in to get the phone one of the guys woke up and touched the back of one of the girls. We all ran to the elevator and left the one girl locked in the room alone. (we sent her to go in after the phone because her brother was in the room) We came back for her and left after she was outside the room.(we were not planing on doing anything besides listening to the wake up call. We fully didn't intend to send one of the girls in their room)
We wondered what was up with the wake up call, so we had the service desk send one to the beehives. We called and told them it was time to get up. We went to their room to check on them and two of 6 were up. We told that they had to get ready for the morning side. They looked at the clock and noticed that it was only 4 in the morning. They went back to bed.
We stayed up the rest of the night and had fun. We went and got hot chocolate, then went to the vending machine. When we went to the vending machine we forgot our key and so we were locked outside the room. Smart aren't we :). We went down to the desk and asked for our key. We went back into our room and talked the rest of the night.
We went to a morning side the next morning and had a BYU football player talk to us about avoiding sin. He did a really awesome job. We went to the temple at noon, then ate dinner after wards. We then went home and slept the whole way.

It was a fun trip and we had fun. The boys didn't really get mad at us neither did the Beehives. We all told them sorry and they still love us so I guess we are good :)

Well yep that was my weekend :)

Yep I agree

You Should Date An Australian!

You're a down to earth, outdoorsy kind of girl

And you need a guy who can keep up with your adventures

A rugged Austrailian guy is just your style

Happy 4th!!!

I would like to say to every one HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!! I always enjoy the 4th of July. The fire works, the flags, the parades, all the red, white, and blue, the Barbeque's, but not the heat. :) I am looking forward to the parade that I will be marching in. I told you about that already so I won't go into it again.

I decided to put the lyrics for one of my favorite patriotic song.

Battle Hymn Of The Republic

Mine eyes have seen the glory

of the coming of the Lord,

He is trampling out the vintage

Where the grapes of wrath are stored,

He has loosed the fateful lightning

of his terrible swift sword,

His truth is marching on.

CHORUS:

Glory, Glory Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory Hallelujah,

His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet

that shall never call retreat,

He is sifting out the hearts of men

before His judgment seat.

Be swift my soul to answer him,

be jubilant my feet,

Our God is marching on.

CHORUS

In the beauty of the lilies

Christ was born across the sea,

With a glory in his bosom,

That transfigures you and me,

As He died to make men Holy,

let us die to make men free,

His truth is marching on.

CHORUS

The Star Spangled Banner is another favorite of mine. In elementary school we sang it every day then we did the Pledge of Allegiance. It meant a lot of me to do that. Then when we moved to a different school, they only did the Pledge.

Well I hope all of you enjoy or enjoyed (depends on when you read this:) your 4th of July weekend

Up date! (Marching Band and life, plus writing)

Hello I am have not blogged in a little while and I decided that I would. I am going to do an up date about couple things. Here it goes!

Marching Band: We finally got off the wonderful brake that our band director gave us. It was a good two weeks of sleeping in, and now I am back to waking up ridiculously early. :) We practiced our new song called Patriotic Spectacular for our parade on the 4th this morning like we did yesterday morning. But today our director decided to make us march again down the street from the high school. We marched farther and faster then we did the first week. It was horrible!!!!! The bass drum kept slowing me down and getting me out of line. When we got back from marching I collapsed on the front lawn! I came home and slept for 3 hours.... It was glorious!!! Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE Marching Band! It is just a lot of hard work in the early morning :)

Life: I am having a pretty good summer and have enjoyed the more time I have to read and write! I was in a cleaning mood and decided to CLEAN my room. If you have or know any teenagers you understand that their type of clean does not match Parents type of clean... well I turned that around yesterday, at least for me I did. My room is now spotless and no it is not all stuffed under my bed or in my closet. It passed my moms inspection so I am good! All of my clothes are hung up in my closet or are in the dresser. My brothers' rooms are all still pig styes though. I woke up this morning to my clean room and thought that it felt so empty. I think it is better to have and empty feeling room then to have a messy full feeling room.
Some of these pictures of my room turned out crappy, but oh well... All the things behind my head board are blankets not junk :) such a pretty room isn't it? :)
This is my desk... you couldn't even see the surface of it, and I am sure that my turtle was very scared of things crowding the side of her tank, let alone things almost falling in it. Now it only has my books lined up on the side of it :)
This is, or was I should say, the dresser of doom..... I could not find anything in it or on top of it. Now I can see where all of my jewelry body sprays, and other things are :)

Writing: I have come up with some AWESOME ideas for my new story I have decided to write! I have the first chapter and the first sentence of the second chapter. I know that that doesn't seem like a lot but I am proud of myself for coming up with such an awesome, or at least my mom and I think, story idea. I got my writing abilities from my mom, but I also got my passion for writing from her too :)

After Girls Camp jitters :)

I got back from Girls Camp at about 2 o'clock this afternoon. I had an amazing time. The food was GREAT, the activities were awesome and I had a fun time.

I had some very cool experiences there. My testimony of prayer grew. I was snipe hunting with some of my ward (hehehehe it was fun), and I fell through a pokey bush. It hurt, and I can not believe I didn't see it :) Any way I had had a scarf on when I fell through the bush, and didn't notice that it was gone until we were ready to go back to camp and get some sleep. I could not leave without it because it had special meaning to me. A friend and I stayed after to look for it. We checked all of the places I had gone, including the bush, and could not find it.

When we were looking around the bush I had fallen in, I fell in a very deep critter hole that 2 other girls from my ward and a leader had fallen in also. My shoe got stuck and I tried to pull it out, but I only succeeded in pulling my foot out of my boot. I reached down to grab it but the girl that I was with smacked my hand out of the way and said that she didn't want me to stick my hand in there. That she would carry me back to camp and come in the morning to get my shoe out with a stick. I looked at her and shook my head, (I was trying to get my shoe out the hole the whole time she was talking… it was not working) and said to her that if my shoe was not coming out with my hand it was not going to come out with a stick. I reached back in and retrieved my shoe after pulling really hard on it. I put it back on and left, sadly, without my scarf. I was really worried that I was not going to find it and I said numerous prayers that I would find it.

The next day, the 1st and 4th years went on a hike. We walked right past were I had lost my scarf, but I didn't have enough time to go look for it again, so I my other friend I was hiking with if she would pray that I would find it. She said ok, and when we stopped to rest later she prayed that I would find it. After we hiked a mile, most of the girls went on to go another 1/2 a mile. I was feeling really crappy, and sick so I turned back with a leader and hiked back to camp. When we got to the place where I had lost my scarf on the way back, I asked if I could look for it again. My leader kindly said yes, I went off to look for it. I came back empty handed and I decided to show the famous hole that the 4 of us had fallen in. She was amazed at the depth and when she looked up she pointed over to a place that was partially hidden by the bush. Lying there was my scarf. I was so happy and grateful. I walked back to camp with a smile on my face, and a bigger testimony of prayer.

We had a devotional Thursday, and it was wonderful. The stake leaders had made three different Iron Rods leading to the same place. When my ward were put on the Iron rod we walked past the River of Unclean Waters and the Great and Spacious Building just fine. Then we got to a place were there was one stake leader that told us to put on the eye covers we had, and it was supposed to represent the mist of darkness. We walked without our site to guide us. We all held fast to the Iron Rod and when we got to the end, one of our leaders was there to embrace us. She said to me in my ear, good job Laurel, welcome home, partake of the fruit. We sat down around a tree that had white lights on it and read a note that our leaders had wrote to us. Then we ate Tree Top fruit snacks, they represented the fruit of the tree. It was an amazing night. Our Stake President talked to us and he sang with one of the stake leaders. It is a night I will ALWAYS remember. (Iron Rod scriptures 1st Nephi 8:1-35)

I love Girls Camp. It will always have a special place in my heart.

Girls Camp

Tomorrow I am headed out to the great outdoors to go camping with my stake. My stake has girls camp really early, way earlier then other wards I have been in. We are going to be camping for 3 days, once again a day shorter then I am use to.

Any way, besides that I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I always feel the spirit at camp strongly. Testimony meetings are full of tears, but are special to me and always will be. In my old ward we had what you called Destinies. It is where the stake comes down from their camps and we gather together and have a spiritual meeting. The first night's meeting is always the best. I love them and I am sad that this ward does not have them.
Last year at girls camp, the stake presidency decided to wait and dedicate the camp till we were all there. It was amazing. Then one ward got really sick and all of the leaders were sick and all but 4 girls were sick. It was horrible. After one of the activities the 4 girls who were not sick knelt in a meadow and prayed that their ward would get well and would not get anyone else sick. At dinner that evening, their whole ward was there and they were all well. I know that prayers work and that was just another witness to me that they are answered.

I am exicted to go, and in fact I should be packing right now teehee :)

School is out and Marching band is in...

School got out on May 23rd. So that is my excuse for not writing on my blog or writing my story.....it as been really busy. The last day of school was fun, I got to hang out with my friends and part all night!!!! Ok... maybe not all night :)

Marching band has been fun... when I am not banging my fingers on the rim of the drum... owe!!!!! I play the violin, but it is not a Marching Band instrument, so they stuck me on the smallest bass drum. The bass drum is still too big and it hurts my back like crazy!!! It makes me feel like I am pregnant. Or at least I think so :) The uniform is black and yellow. It is the high school colors, and the uniform is heavy plus marching in black is not my idea of fun, it will be a killer to march in. AND having the bass drum on my chest isn't going to help. Our first parade is this Saturday the 7th. We've only had a week to work on the song we sound pretty good, but having been on the drum for only a week is well... I am going to suck and mess up cadence just to put it to you straight :) teehee I will try not to mess up.

I will put a picture of me in my uniform up later tonight

School is fun...

I am here in 3rd hour doing nothing, because I am done with my Core Test. Life has been good and I am doing well. We have about 16 days of school left to go!!! I can't wait until we are done with the school year.

I have started a new book. All of my friends have told me to read it so I have. I LOVE it! It is called the Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan. I am almost done with the first one, and can't wait to read the second one. All seven of them are written, but only 4 are out in the United States. In fact two of my friends are sitting next to me reading the 4th one right now... I should be reading too, but I wanted to take a break and write on my blog that I keep forgetting to write on. teehee :)

Wind

Yesterday we reached an amazing wind speed of 50 mph where I live. It was blowing things all over the palce. My friend's basketball stand blew over onto another guys truck... 3 times. It was so strong that it was bowing our windows. Walking home from school was like walking to a tornado. My violin was trying to blow away too. My friends say that it is like this all the time here. It was howling all night long, and that made it really hard to sleep soundly. It was a really cold wind too. It ripped up our tarp thingy so now it is in shreds. Let me just say that I really hate the wind. :P

Absolutely (teehee) nothing

Just as the title says I am blogging on absolutely nothing. Don't ask me why I just am having a very random day. I have been home sick with something and have gone out of my mind sitting around watching movies and taking a nebulizer every 3 hours. :P

A couple of good things that came out of me being sick was one, my mom had her built in babysitter at home so she could write with out the little ones bugging her, and two was that I got to finish a very good book. It is by K.L. Fogg and is called Serpent Tide. I really loved it. I asked my brother to go back to school and check out the 2nd one. He came back with what I thought was the 2nd one, so I started to read it. As I got to about the third chapter I was wondering why I didn't really understand what was going on. It turns out my brother was mistaken and got me the third one instead. Oh well... I am just going to have to wait till I can get the 2nd one myself. :)

Any way I think I am done rambling now. :) teehee

Marshmallow....

I am blogging on marshmallows just for my friend.

Here it goes....

Marshmallows are made up of sugar or corn syrup, water, gelatin that has been pre-softened in hot water, dextrose, and flavorings, whipped to a spongy consistency. Marshmallows used to be made of an extract from the mucilaginous root of the marshmallow plant, a shrubby herb (Althaea officinalis). The mucilaginous helped soothe sore throats. (I think that is cool you may have been able to eat marshmallows when you were sick! we can't do that any more)

It is known that the Egyptians use to make marshmallows out of honey and marshmallow root, and it is the earliest known use to us. The marshmallow root was used up until the 1800's then gelatin replaced it.

Roasting marshmallows is popular in the United States, Canada, Australia and the UK. To roast a marshmallow, you either put it on a stick, skewer, or some people use antlers. Then you turn it around till it is golden brown. Some people like it burnt though. S'mores are made by placing a toasted marshmallow on top of a slice of chocolate which is placed between two graham crackers.

You can use marshmallows in many many recipes. They are tasty and are always yummy to eat!

BFF's

On my mom's blog, she wrote about her BFF. She got the idea from another blog, so I am going to write about my BFF.

Her name is Megan, and we've have been Best buds since we knocked each other on our butts in 5th grade. We were walking/running to the lunch line I was going one way she the other and we ran into each other not really meaning too. We got up and instead of yelling at each other we smiled and started to talk. It turns out she was born in Long Beach California. She has a sister, a huge Great Dane/ Black lab, and I think 6 cats. :)

We are really bad at being quite... the first time she came over we started to dance and sing. Well lets just say we caused some problems with that.
We also liked to roller blade down steep hills in my neighbor hood, and we got locked in the food storage room... we pushed the door shut and my brother hit it so hard that is got pushed in and jammed. We talk a lot on the phone too. My mom gets mad at me for talking to much :)

We can say with out a doubt we are very crazy! We are alike in so many ways but different too. It makes the friendship funner!

Even though I have moved, we still keep in touch and miss each other terribly. I want her to know that I love her tons and that we will be friends forever and ever.

I would also like to thank my other friends that have done sososososososo much for me every day that I am with them. I love them too!

We just got back the results for the Dragon Comet/Oddesy short story contest, and I took first place in one category, and my mom took third place in another! We are so proud of ourselves. I worked really really hard on my short story. It took months to writer, with lots of head banging and Tylenol. My mom was wonderful to me and edited it for me. THANK YOU MOM!!!!!!
Wow I am bouncy and energetic now! I am going to be hapy the rest of the day. I am so so so HAPPY! This is my first writing contest and award!
Thank you all of you who supported me and helped me with this! :)

Klutzy me

At school, I broke my ankle falling off the bleachers. Oh dear me... I can't stay on my feet at all. Earlier that day I had slipped on the snow, then I fell on my history teacher during the first assembly. My history teacher is 6'4... he is a big guy. :)

This is how it happened.

I was in the gym for the second time that day, and I needed to go out to get my violin before the busses got there. I got up and started going down the bleachers. The bleachers are steep so started to catch some air. On the 2nd to last bleacher, I tripped and fell. My friend started to walk over to me and he asked if I was alright. Not wanting lots of attention drawn to myself I said I was fine and hobbled out of the gym doors. My ankle hurt really bad so I sat down in the lunch room and started cry. My friend was with and ran to go get somebody when the gym teacher, who saw me fall, came out and ran over me. He picked me up and helped me walk to the office. They sat me down and went to go get a teacher to help give me a blessing. I started to hyperventilate and freak out. One of my teachers who was there with me was about ready to smack me over the head... she could not get me to calm down.

When the buses came they ran out to tell my bus driver I was riding home with the other driver. My new driver came inside and said that she was an EMT. She tried to have me put pressure on her hand by pushing it with my foot, but I couldn't. We got on the bus and she drove me to the clinic. My mom met us there. I got off and got x-rays of my foot. They said it was sprained. (We later found out it was broken, but that's a different story.) I went home with crutches, a brace, and some pain killers that make me loopy... :)

So thats was my big adventure. Sorry about the picture. The flash made my BIG huge bruise go white...

I am red!

Last night I dyed my hair. I am now a dark auburn. It is not permenet and it will wash out in 8-10 shampooings, but hey I am now RED!!! I am naturally a medium brown with blue eyes and lots of freckles. So the red with the blue eyes and the freckles looks good. At leats I think so. I had fun doing it and the dye has a fruity smell. :) yum!

New Years

Boy... I STILL feel stuffed. I think I ate too much food, well I know I ate too much food. I ate like a horse. But besides that, I had a very fun New Years. We ate home made pizza (I made it :) We also had snack galore, and fire works. We talked and played games. We had family friends over. I didn't get to bed till 1:05. I am bushed. I think I am going to take a very long nap... :)

good night hehehehe

Laurel

Welcome!

Hello my name is Laurel. As the title says I am a KLUTZ!!!!!! I can't walk over a flat surface with out falling. :) I hope you enjoy this blog and keep coming back for updates!

Somethings about me...
I play the violin and I am the ONLY one in a band, yes I said BAND! I have 5 brothers and no sisters. I just had a birthday on the 10th of December. I live in Utah and have lived here since I was born. I like to bake and cook. I think of it as a stress relief. My favorite thing to bake is Chocolate Chip Cookies. My family loves them and the cookies NEVER stay on the pan for more then a few minutes. I just moved and am getting use to the change. It is a SMALL place and I like bigger places more. I write and just finished my first short story. My mom along with her short story sent it off the LTUE BYU contest. I am all jittery and hope that it does well. I like to talk and when I get going it is hard to stop... hehehe :)

Any way, I hope you like the blog and keep coming back for more!

Love your big sister
